Building for a better quality of life

In a terraced house in the eastern part of Stuttgart, a comprehensive renovation of a historic home was carried out. Great care was taken with the landscaped residential surroundings and the needs of the owner, a single pensioner who placed special importance on his extensive library.

A detailed analysis of needs revealed that the study room would be the central living space for the resident. Therefore, this room was designed with the following features:

• Optimal lighting conditions
• Spacious layout
• Custom-made systems for book shelves
• Ergonomically designed work area

With a view to future-oriented planning, the following construction measures were implemented:

• Removal of potential obstacles by leveling floor irregularities
• Installation of an accessible bathroom with a floor-level shower
• Possibility of installing a stair lift
• Terrace exit at the same level as the living room

This forward-thinking design ensures long-term high quality of life and autonomy for the resident. The client was very satisfied.
